Christmas candles campaign launched for 2017

Last year the diocesan Communications department launched a Christmas campaign called A Light Came out of Darkness, which offered people a simple and charming new way of inviting friends or neighbours to a Christmas service.

It was well received so we are going to run the campaign again this year.

We have a quantity of red candles in attractive presentation boxes which are free to churches that want to take part in the campaign.

Each candle comes with a simple Christmas message and a link to services and events on the diocesan website. You could also include information about your own services. It is hoped that congregations will distribute the candles to friends and neighbours as a way of inviting them to church at Christmas.

It is suggested that the candles are lit as darkness falls on Christmas Eve to remind us of the light that came into the world at Christmas.

They are free, contact before close of play on Monday to place your order. Depending on demand, we might have to limit the number supplied to each church.

And finally, please send us details of your Christmas events and services to use on the diocesan website and to distribute to the media.
