James sets the pace as new vicar at Carrington
Friends and family of the Revd James Pacey gathered for his licensing as vicar of St John’s Church Carrington on Tuesday 23rd October, by the Rt Revd Paul Williams, Bishop of Southwell & Nottingham.
James said: “The service was a wonderful and very moving occasion. It was a joy to welcome so many friends – old and new – as we begin a new season of ministry. I feel immensely blessed to be serving as vicar at Carrington and am hugely excited to see where God will lead us in the next chapter of St. John’s story.”
He was ‘born and bred’ in Nottinghamshire and served his curacy in Hucknall Team Ministry. Prior to ordination, James worked as a theatre director and practitioner and is particularly interested in the parallels between liturgy, theatre and worship. He has a passion for story and loves hearing peoples’ own narrative and seeing the connections in their story and the amazing, true, story of the Gospel. He is embarking upon a Masters in Liturgy and has recently been appointed County Chaplain to the order of St. John.
Bishop Paul commented: “It was a great encouragement to see so many gathered to welcome James as the new priest at St John’s Carrington. Archdeacon Sarah Clark brought an inspiring message on how we can be the ‘aroma of Christ’, as worship flows into witness, making his presence real within the wider community. I know that James will bring creativity and compassion in leading the mission of this church in a new season together.”
James is married to Rachael who runs the Talent First Organisation in Nottingham and together the pair are long suffering servants to two cats.
