Food banks

There is an increasing need across the diocese for the kind of support which Food Banks can bring…redundancy, illness, the rising cost of basic food items, domestic violence, debt, family breakdown, fuel bills, benefit changes and delays are just some of the reasons people are going hungry… Most food banks are there to provide short term support for people in crisis and are accessed via a voucher or referral system…

Sherwood Forest Food Bank:
Sherwood Forest Foodbank is opening at Easter and is a partnership with 3 different churches and the national charity, The Trussell Trust.  It is based in Mansfield Woodhouse (from The Stables Centre) but will serve the whole of Mansfield Deanery.

Organisations can be trained to be “Referral Agents”. It is run by Rev Allan Scrivener –
