St Paul’s launches new Place of Welcome
‘Come round to Our Place!’ is the message from St Paul’s Church, Boundary Road in West Bridgford. The Church is launching ‘Our Place’ on Monday 12th November 9.30am –11.30am and all are welcome!
Volunteers will be serving free hot drinks and refreshments – but as Our Place coordinator Angela Harriss says, this is about so much more than a cup of coffee and a biscuit: “There will be a guaranteed warm welcome, a smiley face and someone to chat to if needed.”
Part of the national ‘Places of Welcome’ initiative, Our Place will welcome anyone, regardless of their circumstances.
“We want to be a real church in the community and we recognise there are people who are lonely and are in social isolation in the area,” she explained. “We are trying to meet the needs of those people, to get them involved and try to give them a sense of purpose.”
Our Place will be open every Monday morning in the Church Lounge at St Paul’s Boundary Road, West Bridgford.
Places of Welcome is a national growing network of local community groups providing their neighbourhoods with places where all people feel safe to belong, connect and contribute. A Place of Welcome offers the neighbourhood a place where everyone can go for a friendly face, a cup of tea and a conversation if and when they need it.
