The Registry is the legal office of the Diocese. Its work includes, but is not limited to:

  • giving general legal advice to clergy, parish officers ,boards and councils throughout the Diocese
  • assisting clergy and answering parishioners’ enquires relating to marriage
  • the consecration of churchyards
  • operation of the faculty jurisdiction

Amanda Redgate is the Diocesan Registrar and she is assisted by her clerk, Eleanor Dunleavy.

Amanda qualified as a solicitor in 1991 and joined Rotheras Solicitors (now Rothera Dowson) to undertake commercial property work. She became  a partner in the firm in 1994 , head of its commercial property team in 1998 and the firm’s managing partner in 2009. She was appointed Deputy Registrar for the Diocese in 2007 and Registrar in 2012 . In 2013 she left Rothera Dowson to concentrate on her role as Registrar and to spend more time with her two daughters.

Amanda is chair of the governors of Ockbrook School, an independent school which is a subsidiary charity of the Moravian Church, and a foundation governor at Weston on Trent Church of England Aided Primary School.
