Announcing new Wellbeing and Ministry Development appointment

A vicar serving in New Zealand has been appointed as the Principal for Wellbeing & Ministry Development in the diocese.

The Revd Sarah Patten, currently vicar of Church of the Saviour, Blockhouse Bay, Auckland, will be joining the Discipleship & Ministry team on 1st September.

“I am delighted to be joining the team and am looking forward to working closely with colleagues to ensure that wellbeing and personal development are an integral part of our culture as we seek to grow disciples wider, younger and deeper,” said Sarah.

Bishop Paul said: “We are very pleased that Sarah Patten will be moving to the diocese to take up this newly-shaped role, having special responsibility to support the flourishing of all those called to lay and ordained ministries. She brings considerable experience in training and development, as well as leading a larger church in sustaining mission and growth.”

Sarah, who is married to Murray and has two children, has been in New Zealand for 11 years. Prior to that she was a curate in Ealing, London Diocese, and before ordination training at Wycliffe Hall she worked as a training consultant in HR for the Royal Bank of Scotland Group.

Canon Dr Richard Kellett, Director of Discipleship and Ministry, said: “It is wonderful to have someone joining our team who brings both a rich variety of parochial experience and a deep desire for encouraging the wellbeing and development of ministers”.
