Governance
All 73 Church of England schools and academies across the Diocese have church governor or trustee representation on their governing bodies. All church governors and trustees have a responsibility to ensure that church schools and academies are places of distinctive character, where the Christian faith is alive and practised. Alongside other school and academy governors they work to ensure good educational and pastoral standards, acting as a ‘critical friend’, helping & supporting the staff, but also monitoring and asking challenging questions where necessary.
Recruitment of Church Governors & Trustees
Church of England schools and academies provide a unique context for living out the Diocesan vision of growing disciples wider, younger and deeper. They provide an environment where children and young people can experience Christian faith in action and move on in their own spiritual journey.
You can help deliver the Diocesan vision by becoming a governor or trustee at an academy or church school. The Diocese is currently seeking to recruit committed Christians (Anglican and Ecumenical partners) who are willing to offer their time, skills and experience as governors or trustees at their local Church of England schools and academies.
