New priest welcomed in Farnsfield

The Revd Christopher Pearse has been licensed by the Bishop of Southwell, the Rt Revd Paul Williams as Priest-in-Charge of the parishes of Farnsfield, Kirklington with Hockerton, Maplebeck and Winkburn.

The service took place on 10th September at St Michael and All Angels, Farnsfield.

Bishop Paul said: “I’m delighted that we were able to appoint a new priest for these parishes who have a real desire to grow, especially reaching out to children and younger families in such vibrant and expanding communities.”

Chris grew up in York and though faith had always been part of his life it was during his teenage years whilst attending St Michael-le-Belfry that he really began to ‘own’ his faith and experience the power and love of God for himself.

He moved to Guildford at 18 to go to drama school and it was there that he met his wife Trine. Chris and Trine spent a few years ‘treading the boards’ before Chris began working as the worship pastor at St James Church in Muswell Hill (North London) in 2010. It was during Chris’ four years in that role that he began to explore the possibility of ordination.

Chris and Trine moved to Cambridge where Chris studied for two years at Ridley Hall. In Cambridge their family grew to include both Gracie (now 5 years old) and Joshua (now 3). Following studies they were really excited to move to the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham and have really enjoyed being a part of God’s mission and ministry over the past three years at St Leonard’s Church in Wollaton, where Chris served his curacy.

Chris said: “We are really looking forward to working with the churches and the local primary school as we seek to follow God’s lead together and look to establish some exciting, new worshipping communities in the months ahead.”
