Priest leaves inner city for rural ministry

Revd Mandy Cartwright has left ministry in inner city Nottingham to become Rector of the East Trent Group of Churches, which covers an area between the River Trent and Lincolnshire.

Formerly the Rector of Bilborough and Strelley, she will now be looking after 11 churches spread across several villages and hamlets around the area of Winthorpe and North and South Clifton.

“I am looking forward to getting to know the people and learning a different way of living and working. My intention was to stay in the city but this move came about through a series of meetings and conversations and now I’m feeling very excited and enlivened about working with the East Trent Group.”

Although Mandy has 11 churches to look after she will be supported by members of the congregations who have been looking after the churches during the vacancy prior to her arrival.

“Each church has people there looking after it and they have done a very good job. I will be there to help them continue with their day to day mission in their own communities.”

Mandy was licensed as Rector of the East Trent Group of Churches by the Rt Revd Paul Williams, the Bishop of Southwell & Nottingham, during a service at All Saints, Collingham.
