Promoting a Safer Church – SAFEGUARDING

We are committed to the safeguarding, care and nurture of everyone within our parishes and communities across the diocese.

The Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham will:

  • Respond promptly to every safeguarding concern or allegation
  • Care pastorally for victims/survivors of abuse and other affected persons
  • Care pastorally for those who are the subject of concerns or allegations of abuse and other affected persons
  • Respond to those that may pose a present risk to others
  • Promote a safer environment and culture
  • Safely recruit and support all those with any responsibility related to children and vulnerable adults within the Church

The diocese has a Safeguarding Advisory Panel to oversee the safeguarding work which is independently chaired and has representatives from outside of the church. Its role is to ensure proper governance of the safeguarding structures and will be assisting the diocese in ensuring that locally we implement recommendations from the national church.
