Supporting Afghan refugees in Nottinghamshire

Many of us want to know how we can best help new Afghan refugees arriving in the UK seeking sanctuary.

The Church of England has launched a toolkit that summarises some basic information about what’s going on and the UK government scheme, as well as other initiatives to which you can donate, some practical steps you can take, some tips for engaging in advocacy (including on broader refugee questions) and some links to prayer and theological resources.

To learn more please visit Church of England resources/Supporting Afghan refugees

In our diocese we have produced a Signposting Booklet which gives information and contacts of how you can help and support asylum seekers and refugees across the Diocese in the city and county. To download a copy, please follow this link Refugee signposting Booklet.

For further information please also see How to Help Homeless Callers in Nottinghamshire.

God’s call on God’s people has always been to welcome and provide for the stranger and Jesus shows us what true hospitality looks like as He was forever engaging with the outsider and the unseen. May we reflect His compassion as we pray and act in the power of the Holy Spirit.
