The Big Church Survey – opportunity to get involved in exciting new survey

The Big Church Survey is a Renewal & Reform funded project led by the Research & Statistics Team at Church House, London. Many churches have asked for ideas to help reflect on how they are helping people grow in faith, discipleship and mission, so a survey is being piloted in Southwell & Nottingham which has been developed to see if this helps churches.

Late last year the Research & Statistics Team worked with a small number of churches to develop the survey, and this is now being expanded with a larger pilot in spring. The aim is to firstly, test the questions being asked, and secondly, to test the data collection tools that have been devised.

The survey is easy to use, available in a number of accessible formats and will take no more than 10 minutes to complete. The more people in a worshipping community who fill it in, the more that community learns. The results can be downloaded as soon as a church has finished the survey.  Nationally this will also help the team to see the things that are really working across age groups and regions and this information will be shared.

Further information can be found at The Big Church Survey website. This is being updated but does answer some basic questions.

A small number of churches in the diocese have randomly been selected and already approached. However, if you have not been approached and this is of interest please contact neil.peake@southwell.anglican.org (Programme Manager) for more information. To speed up the process, if you want to join the pilot please identify a ‘Church Champion’ for your church. Once your Champion has been identified the Research & Statistics Team will contact them and provide the necessary resources and support.

The information gathered will ultimately support the diocesan vision of Growing Disciples Wider Younger Deeper.
