35 Confirmed at Southwell Minster on Eve of Pentecost
On Saturday 23rd May, the Eve of Pentecost, the families and friends of 35 confirmation candidates from across the Diocese gathered with the congregation of Southwell Minster to celebrate this important step in their journey of faith and their commitment to God.
The candidates came from 14 parishes across the Diocese, including St Mark’s, Mansfield; St Mary the Virgin and All Souls, Bulwell; St Margaret’s, Bilsthorpe; St Mary’s, East Leake; Christ Church, Worksop; St Peter’s, Nottingham; St Mary’s in the Lace Market; Holy Trinity, Southwell; Southwell Minster; St Mary Magdalene, Sutton-in-Ashfield; Clifton Parish; St Mary’s and All Saints, Bingham; and New Cross Community Church with St Michael and All Angels.
The Revd Stephen Evans, Dean of Southwell, welcomed the congregation, and the Bible reading from John 15:26–16:15 was read by Aurora from St Mary’s, Bulwell.
The service was led by Bishop Andy, who confirmed the candidates and renewed the symbolism of baptism by sprinkling them with water. It was a beautiful and prayerful occasion, with a deep sense of God’s presence throughout the service. Please join us in praying for each of those confirmed as they continue to grow in faith and follow Jesus in their daily lives.

We believe there is nothing better anyone can do with their life than become a follower of Jesus. If you want to explore faith, use the link below to find a church near you.
