8 Candidates Confirmed at Southwell Minster
During the Cathedral Eucharist on Sunday the 23rd, on the Feast of Christ the King, Bishop Andy confirmed 8 candidates from across the Diocese. Families and friends from six different parishes joined the Southwell Minster congregation to celebrate their commitment to Christ.
Bishop Andy preached from Mark 4: 1–20, The Parable of the Sower, on the theme of bearing fruit. He shared, “It is our vision, hope, and prayer that the seed, God’s word, the good news of the kingdom, that Christ is King and Saviour of the world, falls on good soil. That it takes root, grows, flourish, and bear fruit in people’s lives, particularly in the lives of those being confirmed today.”
Bishop Andy was privileged to pray that each candidate would be filled with the Holy Spirit and anointed them with oil as they were confirmed into the Church.
Confirmations are an invitation for people to renew their baptismal vows, receive prayer for a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit, and to profess their faith publicly, often with family and friends there to support.
Please do pray for the candidates as they continue in their journey of faith. If you would like to be confirmed or perhaps explore faith for the very first time, use the button below to find a church near you.
