Diocesan Day of Prayer: 14th November
It was wonderful to gather last week in the Southwell Minster State Chamber for the restart of the Diocesan Days of Prayer.
The Diocesan Day of Prayer reflects one of our seven focus areas, ‘Nurturing Prayer’ which has inspired creative ways to engage in prayer, including the Prayer Run held during October half-term (21st–26th). This focus of prayer has shaped our autumn term as a diocese and prepared the ground as we enter the season of Advent in the coming weeks.
The evening was a special time of worship, prayer, and sharing uplifting stories from across the diocese. One particularly inspiring testimony came from a parish who for a while only had two children attending on a Sunday, but have now had to start new Sunday school groups due to an increase in children attending the church. It was also encouraging to hear stories from Gary Pitt about the diocese prayer run, as well as Tom Walters who shared experiences as a school chaplain.
Our next Diocesan Day of Prayer will take place on 12th December in the State Chamber at Southwell Minster from 7:30–9:00 pm (refreshments served from 7:00 pm). This will be another opportunity to pray, worship, and listen to God together as a diocese.
We are praying for a fresh move of God’s Spirit across Nottinghamshire and hope these evenings will be a source of encouragement, blessing, and renewal. Whether you come as a church group, a leadership team, or individually, this is a chance to receive, be refreshed, and be encouraged.
