National Safeguarding Standards Workshops
The Church of England’s National Safeguarding Standards were introduced in October 2023, having been in the process of development since 2020. The Standards are essential for the Church to understand the quality and the impact of all safeguarding activity. The intention is that all safeguarding activity in the church will relate to one or more of the standards. The Diocese needs to evidence full compliance by the end of December 2027, so we are keen to start this process early and together.
To help your church learn more about the National Safeguarding Standards and their relevance for parish safeguarding, our Safeguarding Team are running six online workshops in the first half of 2025. We’d love to encourage Clergy, Parish Safeguarding Officers, Churchwardens, Lead Recruiters, and anyone else interested, to book onto these sessions via the Learning Hub links below.
- An Introduction to the National Safeguarding Standards – 30th January
- National Safeguarding Standard 2: Prevention – 27th February
- National Safeguarding Standard 3: Recognising, Assessing & Managing Risk – 27th March
- National Safeguarding Standard 4: Victims & Survivors – 24th April
- National Safeguarding Standard 5: Learning, Supervision & Support – 22nd May
- National Safeguarding Standard 1: Culture, Leadership & Capacity – 26th June
Each workshop takes place 6.30-8pm on Zoom led by a member of the Safeguarding Team. For more information please contact the Safeguarding Team on safeguardingtraining@southwell.anglican.org.
We hope you will find these training opportunities of benefit to you and your parish as we seek to ensure our churches are safe places for all.
