Bishop’s Study Day 2025

“The Creed is how we get to know God. We are to believe and trust that this is who God is.”

Wednesday 26th March was an inspiring day as over 150 clergy and key lay leaders from across the diocese gathered at St Mary’s Church, Nottingham for our annual Bishop’s Study Day. The day is an opportunity to worship, pray, and hear teaching together.

Our guest speaker, Dr. Jane Williams, McDonald Professor in Christian Theology at St Mellitus College, led three insightful sessions on the meaning and relevance of the Nicene Creed for today’s Church – a timely teaching as we commemorate the 1700th anniversary of Nicaea, the first ecumenical council in history.

Jane powerfully reminded of the shared divinity of God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The day closed with a short communion service led by Bishop Andy.
