Bench ‘HOPE’ Rededication Service
It was a lovely afternoon service held in the Archbishops Palace Gardens in Southwell on Thursday 15th May at 3pm, led by Southwell Minster’s Acting Canon Pastor, Stephen Hippisley-Cox, to rededicate the bench ‘HOPE’. Friends and supporters from Jubilee House and Southwell Minster, including members of the Diocesan Safeguarding Team, were in attendance.
The bench has been named ‘Hope’ and has attached to the arch a postbox, pen and postcards where people might ask for a prayer or share a thought. This has already been used in such a valuable way as people have had an opportunity to reflect, seek prayer or support, as well as to remember loved ones.

Two years ago, Southwell Minster were fortunate to be blessed with the bench donated by the Cathedral and Diocese that sits in the palace gardens. From the bench you can see right across the gardens which are stunning, especially when in bloom. The bench was dedicated to all those who have experienced or are experiencing loss, suffering, grief or trauma, and was somewhere people may find solace.

Recently, more than 15 prayer notes have been left in the prayer request postbox, asking for peace across the world, guidance, healing, strength, and thanksgiving.
We give thanks for the blessing of this gift and pray for all who have been and continue to be affected by trauma.
