We’re introducing the Good News Spotlight, a regular feature on our platforms that highlights and celebrates God’s work in our parishes, schools, and projects across the diocese.

If your parish or school has a Good News story to share, we’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch with us here.

Chilwell Parish- Christ Church, St Barnabas and The Orchards.

LoveChilwell is a partnership between Chilwell Parish and The Garage, working together to make a real difference through acts of kindness, practical support, and community connection. Through hands-on projects, they’re strengthening relationships, meeting local needs, and helping to create a more caring Chilwell.

On Saturday 7th June, people came together across four community projects to make a difference and transform spaces in their parish, a great way of encouraging generosity in the church. The day involved sprucing up outdoor learning areas at two primary schools, helping a single mum by making her garden safe and welcoming for her kids, and doing a litter pick around Inham Nook.

Despite the rain soaking them through, the smiles were not washed away and the joy of working side by side was felt by all.

One teacher shared:

“Many of our children live in small apartments without gardens. This project has given them a space to connect with nature, play, and learn in a way they wouldn’t otherwise experience. It’s made such a difference.

A local resident added:

“It was so much fun having all the family involved—everyone got stuck in and doing something helpful together reminded me how powerful community can be.

To mark the end of the day, the church was turned into a celebration space – inviting people to come together and share stories about the day with live music, huge grazing tables and a bar. It was more than just a thank you, it was about reflecting something of the joy of being part of something bigger than themselves. Overall, it was great to see relationships deepen and was a powerful reminder that the church is not just within its walls—it is out there, alive in the community.

We’re grateful for projects like these that encourage a commitment to serve and create opportunities for people to connect with the church, whether to grow in their faith or encounter it for the first time.

We invite you to join us in prayer for all those who took part in the LoveChilwell project. May they be encouraged, blessed, and inspired as they continue to serve their community.

We’d love to hear your goodnews story. You can share with us here.
