Our vision is to see the Living Hope of Jesus Christ communicated to our towns, city and villages in Nottinghamshire and beyond. We want to grow new disciples with compassion, confidence and courage and revitalise churches across the diocese. In order to do that, we need a senior clergy colleague with experience, skill and wisdom to join the archdeacons’ team.
This role will provide substantial leadership, vision setting and strategic intervention to enable the implementation of the diocesan vision. The post holder will add capacity to the work of the archdeacons’ team in supporting parishes in every context across the diocese.

The Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham are seeking to appoint a full time Governance Officer and Registry Clerk to provide effective and high-quality Governance and Secretariat Support to the Boards, Councils, clergy and laity in the parishes and deaneries of the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham. Based in Southwell, the successful candidate will build both internal and external business partner relationships to equip and enable the Diocese to ensure legal and regulatory compliance and leading practice.
This is an opportunity for a suitably experienced legal and governance skilled professional to use their skills to oversee records, policies and governance in order to ensure compliance with legal and church standards, The nature of the post will require a degree of mobility and flexibility, with work undertaken in locations around the Diocese and some meetings or training events taking place during evenings and weekends, for which time off in lieu would need to be taken.

The Archdeacon Support Officer responsibilities consist of providing comprehensive high quality administrative and organisational support to the Archdeacons & Associate Archdeacons, enabling the effective delivery of their responsibilities across their archdeaconries and respective areas of responsibility in line with the overarching Diocesan Vision. This includes triaging requests for advice, diary and correspondence management, support for clergy processes, coordination of visitations and pastoral events.
The role requires discretion, attention to detail, and a good understanding of church structures, document handling, data entry, filing, and correspondence, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
