Over 100 People Attend The DISCIPLE Course Pilot
“Joining in worship with people from across different churches felt very special”
Over the past few months, more than 100 people have taken part in the DISCIPLE course pilot across three deaneries. The brand new five-week video course series is designed to inspire and equip participants to follow the teachings of Jesus into real life. The course helps to shape you as a disciple, exploring the 3C’s of the diocesan vision in detail & practice: Compassion, Confidence and Courage.
DISCIPLE was hosted at three venues – St Michael’s, Farnsfield; Clifton Parish; and St Nicholas, Bawtry. Across all three locations, the pilot has been a great success, and it has been encouraging to hear so many inspiring stories from those who attended.

Trine Pearse, Mission and Evangelism Lead (Rural Cluster 3), shared:
“We opened our doors for hospitality 30 minutes before each session, and people really appreciated the opportunity to arrive early, enjoy a cup of tea and spend time chatting together. One person from our church prayed aloud for the first time and led a group for the first time. She did an excellent job and was so encouraged and excited by the experience that she found it hard to sleep on Wednesday nights after DISCIPLE! Worshipping alongside people from different churches was a real highlight and felt incredibly special.”
Craig Hunt, Vicar of St Arnold’s, said:
“DISCIPLE provided an opportunity for a group from our church to connect with other Christians from across the Diocese. The worship, teaching and small groups enabled us to hear and see something of what God is doing beyond our own parish context. Engagement with Scripture was strong, and the worship helped us begin to imagine where God may be leading us in these early stages of revitalisation. It has also given us a foundation for ongoing conversations about what it means to follow Jesus in everyday life.”

Participants also shared some of their experience:
“It was extremely insightful. The course encouraged me to reflect on my own journey as a Disciple, and I left with a much deeper understanding.”
“Everyone was so welcoming, and it was wonderful to get to know other disciples from further afield.”
“It brought clarity to some areas I had previously misunderstood. I particularly enjoyed the group discussions and left feeling refreshed, encouraged, and re-energised”
We are so thankful for all the testimonies and all the work God is doing already across the diocese. If you’d be interested in hosting DISCIPLE in your parish, get in touch with Angelika Bocchetti (School of Discipleship Lead) here.
