Over 90 Gather for ‘Now Is The Time’ Vocations Event

More than 90 people from across the diocese gathered at Trinity Church Nottingham last Saturday for “Now is the Time,” an opportunity to explore God’s call and encouraging those sensing a new step of faith.

The morning began with a welcome from Archdeacon Tors, and sung worship led by Tom and Hannah from the diocesan team, before Bishop Paul reflected on the current missional landscape and the opportunities of this present moment. Bishop Andy then led a session on discernment and the different shapes of ministry, including interviews with those at various stages of their vocational journey.

Attendees had the opportunity to take part in discussion and reflection in small groups, followed by a Q&A session chaired by Archdeacon Tors, where speakers responded to questions from across the room. The event concluded with practical guidance on next steps for those considering where God might be leading them.

Matt Prior, diocesan Head of Vocations, said:
“The highlight for me was hearing from different people who’ve been pursuing God’s calling in different ways and different stages of the journey, from intern to ordinand to curate. And meeting people who are exploring what they could or should do now in response to God’s work in their life, from different parts of the diocese, rural and urban.”

Bishop Andy also reflected on the day, saying:
“It was so encouraging to see such a diverse range of people from the diocese attend Now is the Time and bring such energy, joy and future possibility for the church across Nottinghamshire and beyond. We hope that many will go on to take next steps in their vocational journey and call to serve Christ and His church as a result of the morning together.”

The event highlighted the growing sense of openness and response to God’s calling across the diocese, with many leaving encouraged to explore their next steps in faith.
