Racial Justice Sunday Marked at St Nic’s
Racial Justice Sunday took place on 8 February 2026 across the country, with this year’s theme, “Love Your Neighbour,” exploring how we can challenge hostility and promote inclusion within our communities.
Bishop Paul visited St Nic’s Nottingham, a church known for its vibrant and intercultural congregation. The service reflected this diversity, with an international flavour that included prayers spoken in two languages and parts of the readings shared in Farsi, Cantonese, and Spanish.

Preaching on Ephesians chapter 2, Bishop Paul reflected on how Jesus has made us one in Christ and, through the cross, has demolished the dividing wall of hostility, so that we can experience peace with God and each other. He thanked the congregation for setting an example of unity, where people from many nations worship together without barriers, and encouraged them to continue their witness in promoting unity and belonging.
Bishop Paul remarked:
“It was a great joy to be with everyone at St Nic’s Nottingham to mark Racial Justice Sunday, and was hugely inspiring to worship with a congregation that is so wonderfully diverse with people from many different cultural and ethnic backgrounds. It truly reflects the wider life of the city and most importantly God’s vision for his church where all find true belonging through Jesus.”
