The Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham is delighted to announce that it is set to receive £33.16 million – of which £12.1 million is subject to further approvals – from the Church of England’s Strategic Mission and Ministry Investment Board for a decade-long programme which builds on fruitful mission and ministry in recent years.  The funds will support investment in parishes across the diocese in our city, towns and villages, delivering church revitalisation and a focus on evangelism, discipleship, vocations and the development of younger leaders. Later this month, the Archbishop of York, Stephen Cottrell, is making a missionary visit to the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham. Archbishop Stephen will be with us on 22nd-24th November, and will be visiting various churches, schools and organisations during his visit. He aims to share in and encourage the mission of the Church here in the diocese, as we seek to grow disciples of Christ with compassion, confidence and courage. On Tuesday 5th November, children from sixteen Church of England schools across the diocese gathered for the Pupil Leaders of Collective Worship Conference at Southwell Minster, led by our diocesan Education Team. The children and their teachers took part in four workshops to inspire them and develop their skills for leading worship in school. On Monday, 4th November, friends, family, colleagues, and community members from across the diocese and beyond gathered at Southwell Minster for a beautiful Evensong service, celebrating the commissioning and installation of Revd Canon Neil Evans as Interim Dean.
