West Bingham Deanery Parish Giving Scheme Launch
On Tuesday, 12th November, about 20 parish leaders came together for an engaging and informative evening at St Paul’s Wilford Hill marking the launch of the West Bingham Deanery Parish Giving Scheme.
The evening was led by Andrew Little, Deanery Treasurer for West Bingham, and Conrad Oatey, Churchwarden at St Mary’s East Leake. Together, they delivered practical insights into the scheme, highlighting its benefits and offering valuable guidance to parish leadership teams.
Andrew Little encapsulated the scheme’s purpose perfectly: “Created by the Church, for the Church, to advance regular giving in every congregation.”
In the spring of 2024, the Diocese joined the National Churches Parish Giving Scheme (PGS). Over the summer, two churches from the West Bingham Deanery—St Paul’s Wilford Hill and St Mary’s East Leake—participated in a pilot project with positive results. Regular giving through the scheme has already reached nearly £17,000, including Gift Aid contributions, with an additional £500 raised through one-off donations. Impressively, 90% of givers opted for Gift Aid, and 51% chose to auto-inflate their annual contributions in line with inflation.
Anne Coyne, Digital Giving Adviser, expressed her enthusiasm:
“It was great and hopeful to see parish leaders come together, truly engaged and eager to explore the Paish Giving Scheme.”
Please look out for further details in the New Year and updates on further Deanery launches in 2025. A parish can join PGS at any time, if you are interested, please contact Anne Coyne at pgs@southwell.anglican.org
