OBITUARIES
Peter Stanley, It is with great sadness we share with you the news that The Revd. Peter Stanley died on Monday 10th November 2025 following a heart attack. Peter has been for many years a kind, dedicated and faithful servant of Christ and his Church in various roles in this diocese before and since ordination.
After a successful and experienced career in IT solutions, Peter discerned a call to ordained ministry having previously been licensed as an LLM. He was ordained Deacon in 2020 and Priest in 2021, and served as Assistant Curate in his home church of St. Luke’s, Shireoaks in the Benefice of Christ Church, Worksop, alongside his wife Susan who served as a Reader for many years. Peter held many roles across the life of the Bassetlaw & Bawtry Deanery where his organisational skills were greatly appreciated. He was PCC Secretary and Treasurer, Lay Chair and Treasurer of Deanery Synod and Governor of St. Luke’s CofE Primary School. More widely, Peter served on Bishop’s Council and played a full part in the Diocesan Finance Sub-Committee for a number of years. Additionally, he made a significant contribution on an operational level to supporting the work for Registry and for the Board of Education. Please remember in your prayers Peter’s wife Susan (Sue) and their two daughters, Victoria and Gemma, as well as the Parish of Christ Church Worksop and St Luke’s Shireoaks.
Peter’s funeral will take place on Monday 8th December at St Luke’s Church, Shireoaks at 10am.
