Good News Spotlight: God at work through Crossroads Youth at St Mary’s Radcliffe on Trent
Exciting things are happening at St Mary’s, Radcliffe on Trent, where a simple idea has grown into a wonderful opportunity to connect with young people and share the good news of Jesus!
What began in May with free hot chocolates – or refreshing lemonades when the weather called for it – at the Wednesday Crossroads Station has led to the launch of Crossroads Youth, meeting every Monday evening. These friendly conversations have opened the door to new relationships, with young people now coming along to enjoy games, snacks, a tuckshop and a Bible talk.
Once a month, the group also hosts Pizza and Praise, welcoming young people from across the Deanery for an evening of food, friendship and worship.

Hannah Brooks-Plunkett shared:
“Last night was our very first Pizza and Praise evening, and what a brilliant start it was! We enjoyed board games, table tennis, delicious takeaway pizza from a local shop, a fantastic Bible talk from Rev Carl all about Jesus, and worship led by the Diocesan Worship Team. Nine young people came along after hearing about us through those Wednesday hot chocolate and lemonade conversations – and now they are praising God with us! God is good, and God is at work!”
From a simple cup of hot chocolate to an evening of shared worship, this is a wonderful example of how small acts of hospitality can create opportunities for faith to grow and new connections to flourish.
