Good News Spotlight: Testimonies From St Christopher’s ‘House of Prayer’
House of Prayer is a prayer group from St Christopher’s Sneinton. It gathers every Thursday afternoon in the lounge at Carlton Fold, a housing association for over-50s located across the road from the church. The group prays for specific needs within the church and the wider Sneinton community and provides a time of encouragement, discipleship, and spiritual growth.
Since it began, House of Prayer has seen incredible answers to prayer, and it has been wonderful to hear the powerful testimonies and stories that have been shared.
Marsha Farmer, Curate at St Christopher’s Sneinton, shared some of these encouraging testimonies:
“A lady had a stroke was in the hospital Doctors said she wouldn’t perhaps walk again and be able to do the sort of things she was doing before! We prayed consistently for her while she was in hospital and within a few weeks started to see miraculous improvement in her mobility. She’s now returned back home is able to live independently and doing well!
During one of the House of Prayer sessions a gentleman was struggling with a lot of pain in the back of his neck and one of the ladies asked if she could pray for him. She laid hands on him and prayed, all the pain left!. He was so startled by it, he rang his mum and told her about it and she assured him that it was power of God! He was in amazement by what was for him a dramatic healing!
Another lady who was experiencing some mental health challenges battling with depression, had no faith when we began to pray for her, we started to see changes in her mood and a openness to God!
One of the regular members of House of Prayer was experiencing some administrative challenges with paperwork in regard to her husband care, she’s his carer! We began to pray for the right support and help and within a week there was a dramatic turnaround where she was able to access respite for her husband and get the practical help with the administrative work that she was finding difficult!
We do rejoice in all of this the Father’s faithfulness!”
We are so thankful to see God’s work at work in our parishes and churches across the diocese.
