27 Candidates Confirmed at Woven St Margaret’s Aspley
It was an uplifting and encouraging evening last Sunday as 27 candidates from across the Nottingham North Deanery were confirmed by Bishop Paul during a service at St Margaret’s Aspley.
The service was a joyful opportunity to celebrate the many ways God is at work in people’s lives, with candidates from St Mary’s Eastwood, St Helen’s Trowell, St Margaret’s Aspley, St Martin’s Bilborough, St Martha’s Broxtowe, All Saints Strelley, and St Aidan’s Basford.
The service began with extended period of sung worship. Bishop Paul preached on John chapter 15, and focussed on the verse ‘As the father has loved me, so have I loved you, now remain in my love.’ His main message was that God’s purpose for all of us is that we abide in the love of Jesus, and continue to remain in him and God’s promise to us is that he will do the rest. Joanna, the Deanery Lay Chair led the congregation in prayers for the world, the church and our communities. The church was filled with over 200 people, and the atmosphere was one of joy, excitement and the Spirit of God was moving in power through the worship, testimonies and celebrations.

Confirmations are an invitation for people to renew their baptismal vows, receive prayer for a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit, and to profess their faith publicly, often with family and friends there to support.
Please do pray for the candidates as they continue in their journey of faith. If you would like to be confirmed or maybe explore faith for the very first time, use the button below to find a church near you.
