Baptisms and Confirmations at St George in the Meadows

“We are experiencing the ‘Quiet Revival'”

Last Wednesday was a special day at St George in the Meadows, bringing together nearly 120 people to celebrate baptisms and confirmations. In total, eight candidates came from the parish, along with two from St Cyprian’s Nottingham, including seven students from the University of Nottingham.

The service was introduced by the Revd Stephen Race, Bishop of Beverley, and included a reading from Deuteronomy 4:1–9.

During the liturgy, three candidates were baptised, eight were confirmed, and a Ukrainian student was received into the Church of England. The confirmations were conducted by Bishop Stephen.

Fr Lee, Curate at St Cyprian’s, reflected:

“We’re experiencing quite the ‘Quiet Revival’ in the traditional Anglo-Catholic churches in the city. Student Masses at the University of Nottingham are growing, and the student community at St George in the Meadows continues to increase both in number and in depth each week. Preparations are already underway at St George in the Meadows, beginning this summer, for the next cohort of disciples!”

It was so great to celebrate with St George’s and St Cyprian’s on this special day. If you would like to find out more about baptism or confirmation, you can do so at a church near you. Use the link below to find out more:
