Good News Spotlight: St Nic’s breaks ground for new building

St Nic’s Church Nottingham held a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday 17 December 2025 to mark the start of construction on its new annexe.

This multi-million-pound project has a vision of becoming a ‘tree of life’ in the city centre, offering nourishment and healing to diverse groups. The annexe will be a place where relationships are built, community is fostered, and faith is explored, providing space for both existing and new activities that will allow St Nic’s to better serve the city.

It will offer space for activities supporting children, young people and their families; refugees and asylum seekers; British and international students; vulnerable people; St Nic’s in the City initiatives; and the work of partner organisations.

Jonathan Etheridge, on behalf of St Nic’s, added:
“As an example, we currently run a weekly free English language school aimed at new arrivals to the UK. This is at capacity (100), and we are having to turn people away. The new building will help alleviate this bottleneck and allow us to do much more as part of our ministry in the city.”

The project will continue throughout 2026 and is due for completion in spring 2027. To find out more about the project, click here.
