Inspiring Curiosity: RE Conference 2025

Over 40 primary RE Subject Leaders gathered at Jubilee House, Southwell, for the 2025 Religious Education Conference, themed “Inspiring Curiosity.” The conference was facilitated by Gillian Georgiou, RE Adviser for the Lincoln Diocese, alongside RE Leads Connie Bee, Andrea Burrows, Kate Charlesworth, and Anne Lumb- Diocesan Ethos, RE and SIAMS Lead. It focused on the transformative potential of adopting a ‘Religion and Worldviews’ approach to teaching RE.

Delegates engaged in practical, reflective, and interactive sessions, sharing untold stories of Christianity and exploring ways to create a more diverse RE curriculum. A highlight of the day was hearing personal stories from Revd Lauren Simpson and Derek Clements, who shared their experiences of living as Christians in culturally diverse contexts.

Diocesan Ethos, RE and SIAMS Lead, Anne Lumb, shared “Delegates were both challenged and encouraged by the stories and strategies explored during the day. There was a great buzz in the room as colleagues shared their responses and identified actions to take back in school.”

Delegates also had the opportunity to explore the art and historical resources of Southwell Minster, uncovering fascinating narratives and gaining fresh insights. The conference left attendees inspired to reimagine RE as a subject rooted in curiosity, diversity, and storytelling.
