RETIREMENT

Revd. Jon Wright, at present Rector of Bingham benefice, is to retire on 30th April 2025. Jon’s last Sunday at St Mary’s and All Saints Bingham will be 27th April 2025. We’re grateful for Jon’s ministry in the diocese, please do pray for him as he comes to the end of his time in Bingham and prepares for retirement.

MISSION ASSOCIATE IN BECKINGHAM, WALKERINGHAM, MISTERTON, WEST STOCKWITH, CLAYWORTH & GRINGLEY-ON-THE-HILL

Revd. Liz Mack, at present Assistant Curate in the benefice of Bawtry with Austerfield, Misson, Everton and Mattersey, to be Interim Priest-in-Charge (known as Mission Associate) in the benefice of Beckingham, Walkeringham, Misterton, West Stockwith, Clayworth & Gringley-on-the-Hill. The licensing date is to be confirmed. Please pray for Liz as she prepares for this new role.

MISSION ASSOCIATE IN THE WEST TRENT BENEFICE

Revd. James Moring, at present Team Vicar in the parish of Glascote and Stonydelph in the Diocese of Lichfield, to be Interim Priest-in-Charge (known as Mission Associate) in The West Trent Benefice (incorporating Bleasby, Halloughton, Hoveringham, Morton, Rolleston, Thurgaton and Upton). The licensing date is to be confirmed. Please pray for James as he prepares for this new role.

JUBILEE HOUSE

Kirsty Cowley has joined the central support team at Jubilee House as Parish Finance Enabler. As part of this role, Kirsty will come alongside churches to offer support and advice with finance related tasks and to enable PCCs to satisfy their responsibilities as Trustees. This post has been funded by the National Church. Kirsty was previously Deanery Administrator for Nottingham North & South deaneries.

Paula Carlin has joined the central support team at Jubilee House as Parish Finance Enabler. Gary Pitt has decided to step back from his part-time role as Interim Director of Communications for the diocese in June. Gary has made a very significant contribution to the vision of diocesan communications over the past year and will focus in the next couple of months on preparing the ground well for future developments. Please do pray for him as he steps into this new chapter, as well as for the wider team as recruitment for this role begins.

OBITUARIES

Revd. John Jacklin, a retired Priest living in Borrowash, Derby died on 13th February 2025, aged 94. John was ordained Deacon and Priest in 1972. He began his ministry in Santiago, Chile, returning to the UK in 1975 when he served his curacy at Christ Church, Roxeth in the Diocese of London from 1975-1978. John then moved to the Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham and became Vicar of St. Helen’s, Selston from 1978 until his retirement in 1995. John served with Permission to Officiate in the Diocese of Derby from 1997 – 2018. John leaves 4 adult children. His funeral took place on Friday 28th March in Derbyshire.

Margaret Woodhead, a Reader Emeritus at St Mary’s Edwinstowe, died on 12th March 2025, aged 98. Mary was also formerly on the Diocesan Education Committee, Diocesan Synod, as well as the Worksop Deanery Lay Chair and Foundation Governor at St Anne’s Church of England Primary School in Worksop. A Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Margaret will take place at 12noon on Wednesday 2nd April at St Mary’s Church, Edwinstowe.
