Pupil Leaders Collective Conference 2026
The pupil leaders’ collective worship conference was a joyful celebration of our Church schools and the strong, meaningful collective worship they offer.
Those attending were encouraged to reflect on how they ensure a warm and Christ like welcome in their school community and the workshops helped them to consider how they might develop and celebrate this. Staff and children from eighteen schools were welcomed to Southwell Minster by Canon Amanda Lees. They then took part in four creative workshops, exploring how their schools can develop a culture of welcome while sustaining collective worship that is inclusive, invitational and inspirational.

Pupils enjoyed exploring the Minster, including an outdoor worship workshop, and reflecting on the visible ways the Minster and its team welcome visitors. Pupils were also encouraged to think about the power and importance of stories whilst learning more about inspirational Christian individuals who feature in Heroes of Hope, written by Sharon Prentis and Alysia-Lara Ayonrinde. The day began and ended with worship, led by members of the diocesan team. This was a wonderful time to pause and reflect as well as a time to celebrate and wonder. The worship was a particular highlight of the day and provided the opportunity for all those attending to reflect on what it means to be welcomed as part of Gods family.

A pupil shared:
“I loved the experience and the music was amazing”
A staff member also shared:
“The conference provided some particularly meaningful moments throughout the day. One of the greatest sources of joy and inspiration was watching the pupils engage in the outdoor workshop, exploring a sense of awe and wonder. It was clear that being outside and interacting with the natural environment sparked curiosity and deep reflection. There was also a strong sense of connection during opportunities to sing together”
We look forward to seeing the impact of the day visible in our schools and to developing future events and resources to support our pupil leaders to flourish.
The Pupil Leaders Collective Conference was organised by the diocesan Education Team, who support the 73 Church of England schools in the diocese.
