Transforming Notts Together complete prayer walk across the diocese

Throughout 2025, Transforming Notts Together (TNT) has embraced a walking theme, connecting with churches, charities, community projects, and Places of Welcome. These gatherings have been a powerful way to highlight the inspiring work taking place across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

From 1st to 15th May, the TNT team walked an incredible 78.1 miles starting in inner-city Nottingham, journeying through outer estates, and continuing into rural Nottinghamshire. The walk culminated in a joyful celebration service at Southwell Minster on Thursday, 15th May.

The day began with a BCP Holy Communion and transitioned into a celebration service. Attendees enjoyed cream tea and conversation, marking the end of two weeks of prayer walking with thanksgiving and joy for all that God is doing in our city and county.

TNT Chief Officer, Simon Cartwright commented:

On Thursday 15th May, we finished the walk in Southwell, led by TNT Chair Bishop Peter Hill, and we were delighted to be joined by a group from Ashfield churches.

Our first port of call was Holy Trinity where we were welcomed by the church wardens and Michael Arlington. They joined the walkers which meant when we arrived at Jubilee House there was quite a crowd! We were welcomed by Martin Cooper (Chief Executive) and David McCoulough (Diocesan Chaplaincy Lead) and crammed into the chapel for a time of prayer for the work across the Diocese.

The walk continued passed Southwell Riverside to the Minister where a number of guests had arrived for a celebration service that was led by Bishop Peter Hill who reminded the congregation of Christ’s compassion for the least in society. Finally, we placed stones we had collected on the walk around the city & county in a prayer cairn as we prayed for the 102 churches and projects visited over the previous fortnight.”

Over the course of the walk, the team visited 102 churches and community projects, walking with one shared purpose: to overcome poverty and injustice in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
