People Update – January 2025
Starting in January 2025, each month we will share an update with you of comings and goings from across the diocese.
PARISH
NEW VICAR IN SOUTHWELL
Revd. Jonathan Morley was licensed as Vicar at Holy Trinity Southwell on Monday 13th January. Jonathan trained for ordination at St. Mellitus College in London, before moving to Aldridge in the West Midlands where he served his curacy in the Parish of Aldridge. Please pray for Jonathan as he steps into this new role. Read more about his licensing here.
PRIEST-IN-CHARGE IN SNEINTON
Revd. Lynda Blakeley at present Assistant Curate in the benefice of St Stephen’s with St Matthias to be Interim Priest-in-Charge in the same benefice. Lynda will be licensed on Thursday 3rd April at 7.30pm with Bishop Andy officiating. Please pray for Lynda as she continues in her ministry in Sneinton.
DIRECTOR OF MINISTRY AT ST NIC’S
Revd. Ross Wilson at present the Rector of St John the Evangelist, Orangefield in the Diocese of Down and Dromore in the Church of Ireland is to be Director of Ministry at St Nic’s Nottingham. Licensing date to be announced. Please pray for Ross as he prepares to move to the diocese for this role, and for St Nic’s as they get ready to welcome him.
NEW AREA DEAN
Revd. Sarah Patten, Principal of Wellbeing and Ministerial Development in the Discipleship & Ministry Team at Jubilee House, is now also Area Dean of Southwell and Nottingham for a period of 12 months. Sarah was licensed as Area Dean at on 6th January at Jubilee House. Please pray for Sarah as she steps into this new role.
RETIREMENT
Revd. Canon Tim Pullen at present Rector at St Leonard’s Wollaton and Area Dean of Nottingham North Deanery is to retire on 13th May 2025. Tim’s last Sunday will be 27th April 2025. We’re grateful for Tim’s ministry in the diocese, please do pray for him as he comes to the end of his time in Wollaton and prepares for retirement.
JUBILEE HOUSE
Derek Clements has joined the central support team at Jubilee House as Church in School Pioneer. This is part of the Flourish Pilot and is a job share with Hannah Crawford. As part of his role Derek will be helping to foster a culture of close partnership between churches and secondary schools, develop expressions of church within schools, and create pathways between school and church for young people, laying the foundations for inviting young people into life-long discipleship in local churches. This post has been funded by the National Church.

Emily Huggard has joined the central support team at Jubilee House as Project Support Officer in the Programme Management Office. Emily will play a vital role in assisting the Programme Manager in providing capacity and support to the diocesan-wide portfolio of transformational change initiatives. With a clear focus on the progress and outcomes within the specific projects, she is committed to using efficient project management skills and expertise to support the vision of Growing Disciples of Christ with Compassion, Confidence and Courage. Emily is based at Jubilee House; however, she enjoys visiting churches and meeting those who work passionately in each project. Emily is maternity cover for Imogen Mellor and works Monday – Wednesday.
DEATHS
Revd. John Pullman, a retired Priest living in Mansfield, died on 29th December 2024, aged 90. John was ordained Deacon in 1981 and ordained Priest in 1982. He was Curate at St. Peter & St. Paul’s, Mansfield until 1983, then serving a second curacy at St. Edmund King and Martyr, Mansfield Woodhouse from 1983 to 1986. John became Rector of St. Mary’s, Car Colston with St. Wilfrid’s, Screveton in 1986 until 1999. In addition to parish ministry, John was the Chaplain to Whatton Prison. John retired in 1999, serving with Permission to Officiate in the Diocese of Derby until 2018 and in the Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham until 2021. John leaves a son, David. His funeral took place on Thursday 30th January at St. Peter & St. Paul’s Church, Mansfield.
Revd. Timothy Tyndall, a retired Priest living in London, died on 5th December 2024, aged 99. Timothy was ordained Deacon in 1951 and ordained Priest in 1952. He began his ministry in the Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham and served his curacy at Warsop with Sookholme until 1955, then becoming Rector of St. Leonard’s, Newark from 1955-1960, and Vicar of St. Martin’s, Sherwood from 1960–1975. Timothy then moved to the Diocese of Durham when he was the Priest in Charge of St. Michael & All Angels with St. Hilda (Bishopwearmouth) from 1975 until 1985, during which time Timothy was also Rural Dean of Wearmouth and an Honorary Canon of Durham. From 1985-1990 Timothy worked as Chief Secretary of the Advisory Council for the Church’s Ministry (ACCM) at Church House in London, retiring from that post in 1990. Timothy served with Permission to Officiate in both the Diocese of London and the Diocese of Southwark. Timothy’s wife, Ruth, died in 1998 and he leaves four adult children. The service of celebration and committal was held on 23rd December in St. George in the East, The Highway, London.
