Good News Spotlight: Inspiring Children and Youth Takeover Service at St Michael’s Farnsfield

Around 18 children and young people aged 6 to 20 took the lead in a special CYP Takeover Service at St Michael’s Farnsfield, contributing to almost every aspect of the 10.30am Sunday service on August 19.

The young people were involved in welcoming, refreshments, leading the service and worship, notices, prayers, a dramatised reading, preaching and the technical side of the service, including screens and sound. Other children and young people also attended, supporting and participating throughout.

Grace (Youth Minister) shared “A planning and rehearsal session the week before gave the young people the opportunity to talk through the service and take ownership of their different roles.”

The service was followed by a church picnic, with some of the young people also offering face painting to raise money towards their coach trip to the Dreaming the Impossible Youth Festival.

Lily, aged 16 (at the time of the service) preached in the service and reflected:

“I think doing the CYP takeover has really improved my confidence in speaking in front of people, and being able to have the opportunity to do it is really amazing!! Ive seen all my friend’s confidence grow as well as my own and its so amazing to see the Lord working in so many different ways in everyone’s different skills!”
