Revd Canon Dr Richard Kellett Commissioned as Associate Archdeacon
On Monday 8th January, the Revd Canon Dr Richard Kellett was commissioned as Associate Archdeacon for the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham as part of a Service of Evening Prayer at Southwell Minster.
Richard is well known in the diocese and the service was attended (amongst others) by several of his past ordinands and curates, as well as a number of those currently training for Licensed Lay Ministry and members of the Discipleship and Ministry Team.
Bishop Paul paid tribute to Richard’s love for the diocese, and his significant contribution as Director of Discipleship and Ministry, and stated how much he is looking forward to Richard continuing to use his gifts in this new role, as Richard committed to serve the diocese in growing disciples of Christ with compassion, confidence and courage.
Richard shared, “In my ministry, following the call of God has always been an exciting adventure and this new role working with parishes to discern their call to grow disciples will be equally exciting as together we discover the plans God has for them across many different places and contexts of the diocese.”
Speaking after the service Bishop Paul said, “It was a delight to commission Richard and welcome him into this new season of ministry. He brings enormous experience, wisdom and continued enthusiasm for the mission of the whole church, with a particular focus and skill for developing the ministry of others. I know he will make an immensely valuable contribution to the life of the diocese in this new role.”
