On Maundy Thursday, a ‘Last Supper’ was held at a beautifully-decorated St Andrew’s Church in Langar. Participants washed each others’ hands before enjoying a simple Mediterranean-style meal followed by partaking of bread and wine. We had a wonderful holy week here in Ravenshead parish which included a bumper attendance at our relatively new Sunday@Four children and family service on Palm Sunday when 66 adults and children came to worship through craft, games, prayer stations, bible stories, music and reflection, plus fun and food. The Church started Holy Week open as members of the congregation had produced artwork for the Gedling Deanery Way of the Cross.  We celebrated a church family Passover style meal, where Robin Aldridge from the Churches Ministry among Jews came to explain all the elements and meaning. Holy week was a big week in the life of St Stephens. Children from St Stephens C of E School put together a Holy Week Pilgrimage and came to live it out in church at their Easter Service. Each class (year group) shared different aspects of the Easter Story.   2024 marks 30 years since the first women in the Church of England were ordained priest. In celebration of this the diocese are organising a gathering for female clergy and ordinands on Monday 24th June 2024, at 3:30-4:40pm. The twelve graduating Licensed Lay Minsters have returned from the first ever retreat to mark the end of their 2 years of training.
