What a joyous weekend we had! On Saturday 18th May we met with some of our children and made ‘crowns’ with tissue paper flames, a Whit Doll, dressed in white ready for baptism or confirmation and cakes were decorated. As we told the Pentecost story our crowns were worn and our candles were lit. Then we exchanged tales of Whitsun treats, new outfits especially for Whitsun and our baptisms, mostly as adults! Candles blown out, cakes were eaten and we sang Give me

What a wonderful Pentecost day at St Anne's here in Worksop, as we celebrated with Edie, Aimee and John on their baptism day, marking a significant milestone in their spiritual journey. A ceremony filled with touching moments, prayers, songs, blessings and the lighting of candles, representing the light of Jesus guiding their path. Afterwards we continued the celebrations in the church Hall with good food, magnificent puddings as family and friends gathered with the wider church family for laughter and fellowship As the

Growing Disciples: Annual General Meeting & Diocesan Synod 18 May 2024  Saturday was an encouraging time for many as the Diocesan Synod and AGM took place at The Minster School, Southwell. Through this time the Bishops, senior leaders and elected delegates (both clergy and lay) listen and discuss updates, reports and key documents to prayerfully discern what God is saying to the Diocese at this time, in keeping with the Greek word of ‘Synod’, as ‘coming together to find a way’. The

The Orchard is a new worshipping community that launched in June 2023, in Inham Nook, Chilwell to the west of Nottingham. Our prayer is for 'deep roots and fruitful lives', for everyone to grow deep roots of faith in Jesus and for the fruit of His Spirit to grow in us. On Sunday, we explored the story of Pentecost, welcomed the Holy Spirit as we worshipped, and celebrated the baptism of Kerry Towle and the affirmation of promises for her husband,

Maundy ThursdayHoly Communion. Jonathan Smithurst led and spoke on the set bible passage from John 13 with its description of the events surrounding the Last Supper. Jonathan emphasised the importance of Jesus’ example in serving one another and his command to love our neighbour. Little Angels. After a very well attended session of little Angels in the Church Centre the toddlers and their carers spend some time in church hearing about the story of Easter Agapé Meal. In the evening, there

We had our easter holiday club with 58 children and 14 teenage junior leaders diving deep into the love of Jesus who went to the deep so we could be rescued forever. You can see more highlights of this on our video. https://youtu.be/CbFBT5MqinA We also had our Good Friday Walk - a day-long 15 miles walk visiting every church in the Benefice. 160 people and 9 dogs were involved in some way throughout the day, either walking bits or just popping in for some of the services. At each stop

On Maundy Thursday, a ‘Last Supper’ was held at a beautifully-decorated St Andrew’s Church in Langar. Participants washed each others’ hands before enjoying a simple Mediterranean-style meal followed by partaking of bread and wine. Good Friday saw the combination of a modern ‘Passion Play’ and the now traditional pilgrimage. The morning started with the trial of Jesus at St Giles’ Church, Cropwell Bishop. The forecast showery weather didn’t materialise but there followed a muddy trek across the fields to Colston Bassett,

We had a wonderful holy week here in Ravenshead parish which included a bumper attendance at our relatively new Sunday@Four children and family service on Palm Sunday when 66 adults and children came to worship through craft, games, prayer stations, bible stories, music and reflection, plus fun and food. This was followed midweek by Experience Easter when 180 Year 3 and Year 4 children from local primary schools had an immersive experience of the first holy week as part of

About 40 people gathered, a little bleary eyed, on Easter Sunday at 6.30am to celebrate what is now an annual event at Pusto Hill Farm.  As dawn broke, we celebrated the joy of Easter morning, thinking about how Jesus rolls our stones away, singing and praying together whilst being immersed in a full sensory experience of new life, complete with the birds and cows joining in! Afterwards, we were rewarded for our early rise with bacon and egg butties served by Jean

The Church started Holy Week open as members of the congregation had produced artwork for the Gedling Deanery Way of the Cross.  We celebrated a church family Passover style meal, where Robin Aldridge from the Churches Ministry among Jews came to explain all the elements and meaning. Afterward we shared communion in church.  Good Friday involved the Walk of Witness with an open air service at Mapperley Top. Despite the rain about 60 came together from local churches.  We held our annual
