Diocese Prayer Run 21st – 26th October Route

We’re looking forward to the ‘Diocese Prayer Run’ that will be taking place over October half term 21st-26th! Following the launch of the refreshed vision earlier this year we want to pray together for living hope across the city, towns and villages of Nottinghamshire and beyond. This will be opportunity to do this in the churches, fields, paths and streets of our diocese.

The 120km prayer run route will be spread over 6 days and will stretch from the most northern part of our diocese in Misson down to the furthest point south in Stanford on Soar. We will visit a number of our churches on the way and will run short prayer meetings outside the churches across the day, as well as encouraging prayer and conversation along the way. The run itself will be split into 5km and 10km sections throughout each day so people can easily come and join for any length or duration. We’ve allowed approximately up to an hour for 5km and 2 hours for 10km runs, however if the group running can do this faster, this will allow more extended time of prayer and rest at each prayer location.

Please note this is not a professionally coached run and so some prior experience of running is required. Jacob Tyers (Curate from St Wilfrid’s Church, Nottingham) will be leading the route across all 6 days and will be covering the full 120km.

How can you get involved?

There are 5 ways you can get involved next week!

Run and Pray

If you would like to join any of the sections above, please contact us here to let us know if you would like to run. As you may know there are a lot of variables with these schedules and so if anything changes we hope to keep all interested participants updated on a WhatsApp channel.

Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers across any of the dates who can help the route run smoothly, especially those who might be willing to offer lifts to those who have finished a section and need returning to their car! If you are happy to help, please contact us if you would be happy to help volunteer.

Pray at a location

Even if you’re not a runner, you’re welcome to join us on one of our prayer stopping points across the 6 days. Please note the timings are estimated arrival and departure times, and so if you’re travelling especially there may be some waiting time before/after. However if you are interested, please contact us here if you would like to pray at a location so we can add you to the list for staying updated.

Pray remotely

We’ll be sharing our location on a live-link throughout each day, so you can follow along online and pray for the different locations as we pass them. The link for this will be shared in our next weekly comms update and on social media.

Organise your own prayer event

We sadly can’t visit every church on our run, but the event might inspire you to organise your own prayer gathering! This might be with a prayer walk, a run by yourself, or a gathering in your church. If you are planning to do something please do let us know here if you’re organising your own prayer activity.

We hope this run inspires people to join in prayer for every church and every community in our diocese. If you have any questions about the event you can contact us here.
