Education Sunday: ‘Learning Together – Education in Our Community’

On the 8th of September, churches across England and Wales will come together to celebrate and pray for everyone involved in education – both those who teach and those who learn.

As our children and young people return to school after the summer, teachers and school staff return to work, and students head off to colleges and universities, we encourage you to take time to pray for them in your services this Sunday.

Education Sunday is not only a chance to offer prayers for students and educators, but also to reflect on how the Church can actively support education. It is a time to give thanks for the gift of learning and consider how we can build or deepen our relationships with local schools, colleges, and universities.

Churches Together in England have put together a range of free resources to help your church mark this national day of prayer and celebration, which you can access here. If you would like to find out more about how your parish can support and reach out to your local schools, you can get in touch with our diocesan Education Team here.
