Holy Week and Easter Celebration at St Michael’s Bramcote
Holy Week at St Michael’s Bramcote was a rich journey of worship, reflection, and celebration, as the church community moved from Palm Sunday through to the joy of Easter Day.
The week began on Palm Sunday, remembering Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. Services across the day explored themes of welcome, expectation, and Jesus’ path of servanthood and sacrifice, with worship, teaching, drama, and choral evensong bringing the story to life.
On Maundy Thursday, the church gathered for Holy Communion in the morning and an evening Agapé Meal, sharing a simple meal together in remembrance of the Last Supper and reflecting on Jesus’ arrest in Gethsemane.
Good Friday was marked with two solemn services. Through music, readings, prayer, and reflection, the church remembered the crucifixion of Jesus, including a meditation service and a traditional “Way of the Cross” around the cross in the church.
On Saturday, families enjoyed an Easter Workshop, with crafts, storytelling, and activities that helped all ages engage with the Easter story in a creative and joyful way.
The week culminated on Easter Sunday, with services of Holy Communion and Easter worship celebrating the resurrection of Jesus. Across the day, the church rejoiced in the hope and new life of Easter, ending with a service of Easter Praise.
