Licensing of Revd Beth Resch and Revd James Moring

We’re thankful for the two joyful licensing services took place across the diocese this week!

Rev’d Beth Resch Licensed as Priest in Charge of St Paul’s, Carlton-in-the-Willows

Tuesday evening was a chance to pray and worship together in one of our urban contexts, as Rev’d Beth Resch was licensed as Priest-in-Charge of St Paul’s, Carlton-in-the-Willows.

Beth is married to Luke, and they have two young daughters. In 2022, sensing God’s leading, the family moved to Nottingham for Beth to serve her curacy at Trinity Church Nottingham.

The congregation was a wonderful mix of those who had already made St Paul’s their home and supported the ministry during the vacancy, family and friends of Beth, and a team from Trinity Church Nottingham who will be joining Beth and Luke as they seek to continue building God’s Kingdom in Carlton and the wider area.

Rev’d Johnny Hughes shared from Isaiah 43:19 and Mark 10:13-16 and encouraged that we each needed to become like children, intentionally leaving and letting go in order that we might receive the Holy Spirit, the life of God, that would transform us, our churches and our diocese, as we looked to God to bring his hope and life.

Please join us in praying for Beth, Luke and the team as well as those already worshipping in St Paul’s and the wider community as they begin this new season of ministry in Carlton.

Revd James Moring licensed as Priest-in-Charge of the Benefice of West Trent

There was a celebration on Monday evening at St Michael & All Angels Hoveringham as Revd James Moring was licensed as Priest-in-Charge of the benefice of West Trent.

James was ordained in the diocese in 2018 and served his curacy in Nottingham before moving to Tamworth in 2021. He is married to Joy and they have two young sons. Joy is embarking on her final year of ordination training at St Mellitus College, and they feel called to lead in partnership. so they are looking forward to being able to exercise that calling in the benefice as Joy finishes her training and heads towards curacy. James enjoys cooking, rugby, reading and is looking forward to getting fixated on the mowing of the vicarage garden!

Archdeacon Tors preached on being ready and prepared for God’s action among us, and this appointment is the start of a new season, not just for the Benefice of West Trent, but for our Rural Revitalisation Pilot. James is the first of our Mission Associates to arrive on the ground, and we are looking forward to several other Mission Associates starting their roles in the autumn, as we get ready for all we trust that God will do particularly in our rural contexts.

We are so delighted for James, Joy and their family as they begin this new ministry. Please join us in praying for them and for a fresh move of the Holy Spirit that will bring an overflow of God’s blessing to these churches and communities.
