Lighthouse Mansfield is a Holiday Hit
If you’d been in Mansfield in the first week of August, you might not have noticed it, but something amazing was happening – Queen Elizabeth’s Academy was transformed into Lighthouse Mansfield!
This operation involved churches from across the town including St John’s with St Mary’s and St Peter’s & St Paul’s, as well as many other denominations. Together, they gathered over 120 children, 60 leaders including lots of junior leaders to share in praise, worship and bible fun alongside activities, games, prayer and craft.
St John’s with St Mary’s, Ruth Lee helped to run Lighthouse Mansfield. She said, “Started 7 years ago by a team including Cathy and David Picken, Lighthouse Mansfield is one of several Lighthouse’s that run around the country (but obviously we think Mansfield is the best!) and after being away during Covid, this year we were back and loving it!
Through the week, we unpacked John 3:16 through drama and teaching as well as worship, prayer, small group time and activities. We went on a rollercoaster adventure from the garden of Eden through Christmas and the calming of the storm to Jesus’ death and resurrection.
It was incredible to see the young people exploring this for themselves and seeing them come to understand more of who Jesus is and what he’s done for them and making decisions to follow him.
We’re praying that we can keep connecting with the children and young leaders through our regular groups and activities and that this week was a big boost for their relationships with Jesus.”
