Silver Eco Church Award for St Jude’s Mapperley

St Jude’s Mapperley is delighted to have achieved the Silver Eco Church Award, recognising their commitment to caring for and celebrating God’s creation.

Some of the key changes that helped them reach this milestone involved formalising and being more intentional about activities that were already taking place within the church community. These included encouraging the use of public transport, car sharing, and electric vehicles.

They also created a bug hotel, installed bird feeders, and continued growing vegetables and flowers through their fellowship group, helping to support local wildlife and encourage sustainable living.

Another significant step was the installation of their solar array. The 24-panel, 9.2kW system is expected to save around 2 tonnes of CO₂e each year, reducing their environmental impact and supporting their ongoing commitment to caring for creation.

We are thankful to everyone who has contributed to this achievement and look forward to the continuing journey of St Jude’s Mapperley towards a more sustainable future.
