Summer Stories Part 2
It has been great to see summer events and celebrations taking place across parishes in the diocese, bringing together families and the community. Below are some more highlights:
All Hallows Ordsall’s Ordsall Summer Fete
What could be more delightful than spending a glorious summer’s evening in an English country garden?
This year, All Hallows Ordsall held its annual village church garden party in the beautiful grounds of the former Rectory at Ordsall House. It was the first time the event had taken place there since the pandemic and the sale of the house to new owners.

The gardens rang with laughter and music, while the bells of All Hallows, just beyond the hedge, marked the start of the festivities. Churchwarden Kenny Newstead sent rockets high into the sky with the help of eager young assistants, and local groups Rattle Jag Morris and the Two Hands One Voice Choir entertained the crowds.

The new owners of Ordsall House, the Credland family, explained that when they bought the former Rectory on Church Lane they learned of the tradition from the previous owners and were delighted to re-establish it.
Despite the July heatwave, the village turned out in style to enjoy games, fancy dress, cakes and tombola. The evening raised over £900 for the church, but even more importantly, it was a joyful celebration of community, tradition and togetherness!
St Stephen’s Sneinton‘s Wonder Zone
Earlier this month, Holy Trinity Lenton hosted ‘Wonder Zone’, a free summer holiday club exploring the wonders of the world (and beyond!) and how the God behind all of it wants to get to know us too!

Children from the church and the community in Lenton spent three mornings singing, dancing, hearing stories, playing games, doing crafts and more, with some of the children being introduced to Jesus for the first time. It was a great couple of days sharing the love and joy of Jesus with the children.
Freya, Children & Families Lead at Holy Trinity, shared:
“We had an amazing time at our Wonder Zone holiday club! Primary aged ‘scientists’ from the church and the local community in Lenton joined us for experiments, songs, games, and a chance to hear about the God behind it all.”

We’re so thankful for the joy, generosity, and the opportunities to encounter Jesus through these wonderful events! Click here in case you missed part one of our summer stories round-up.
