Easter at St Peter and St Paul’s, Mansfield
Holy Week at St Peter and St Paul’s was a moving journey through reflection, remembrance, and resurrection joy shared with friends, families, and churches across Mansfield.
Palm Sunday marked the beginning. Joined by friends from St Mark’s Church, a walk between the two churches remembering Jesus’ humble arrival into Jerusalem-riding on a donkey, as people waved palm branches to hail him as king – the start of a week which was to see him die and then rise again.

On Monday evening, a quiet service of prayer and reflection in St Peter’s to remember Jesus’ crucifixion through the eyes of women who were there beginning with Pilate’s Wife’s story, Salome’s story (Tuesday), and Mary Magdalene (Wednesday).

Maundy Thursday brought a special and poignant evening, centered around the Last Supper. A shared meal, conversations, and the washing of feet reflected Jesus’ humility and love. Bread was broken, wine shared and as night fell, the congregation moved into church in silence. The altars were stripped, a solemn act marking Jesus’ betrayal, arrest, and approaching crucifixion.

Good Friday unfolded in three powerful parts. The day began at 10am with a Churches Together service at Mansfield Baptist Church, followed by a Walk of Witness through town to the marketplace, an outward sign of shared faith and remembrance.
At 1:30pm, Messy Church at the St Peter’s Centre welcomed families for an engaging time of fun, faith, and creativity. Just after, at 2pm, the church held The Last Hour at the Cross – a deeply reflective service, honouring the sacrifice of Jesus in the final moments before His death.

And then came the joy.

Easter Sunday at St Peter’s was nothing short of amazing. The resurrection was honoured with heartfelt worship and rejoicing, as the church family gathered to celebrate the new life found in Jesus.
