Jubilee House Volunteer Day 2025

It was such a joy for the central support team from Jubilee House to head out to St Ann with Emmanuel Nottingham and St Nicholas Tuxford on Wednesday for our annual Volunteer Day, working with teams from both churches to help clear and refresh the spaces. The two teams spent time painting, clearing, weeding, mowing and tidying!

We’re so thankful to have been able to partner with these churches, and for the amazing welcome we received!

Kristine (Parish Discipleship Enabler) shared a moving and encouraging highlight:

“While we were clearing the gardens and space around St Nicholas Church in Tuxford, James (JH Building Caretaker) began to clear some very overgrown bushes at the entrance to the church. Jo Page (Property Administrator) joined him and together they beavered away for several hours, chopping and clearing. To our surprise, out of the very prickly bushes there emerged an old wooden cross that no one knew was there. It felt very symbolic for what is happening with opening up the church in Tuxford again, and for the growing congregation that is happening there!”

Alison, from St Nicholas Tuxford, shared, “You blessed us so richly as a team – I was so moved seeing all your faces as you arrived dressed for action! As I drove to my appointment having welcomed you I found myself singing out ‘Praise God from whom all blessings flow, Praise Him all creatures here below…’ as I truly felt blessed in ways I cannot quite express. Then to return and enjoy all that had been achieved and revealed (the cross) – please know I am full of thanks to each of you for your hard work, care and kindness.”

Maureen, Vicar at St Ann with Emmanuel, also shared, “We were delighted and overwhelmed by the work and kindness of the lovely team from Jubilee House coming to help us. Whether it was gardening, sorting, cleaning or anything else it was always “What can I do?”. It has made such a difference to our building and gardens – so many things tackled and sorted that we just didn’t have the time or people to do. It was also lovely to meet some people who we’ve only known through emails before. Thank you so much!”

The Volunteer Day is an opportunity for the team at Jubilee House to help out and make a positive impact in some of our parishes in a really practical way. It was a great opportunity to strengthen the sense of team and reinforce our commitment to serving the diocese with compassion. Look out for an opportunity to nominate your church for our 2026 volunteer day.
