Easter was a busy and joyful time at St Mary the Virgin & All Souls, Bulwell! On Good Friday, St Mary’s 87th Nottingham Guides were fundraising at Bulwell Tesco as part of the church’s Lent Appeal, raising money for new equipment. St Helen Church in Thorney (East Trent Group) welcomed families for a special Good Friday event in its newly reordered nave. The redesigned space allowed tables for activities and easy movement, a big improvement over crafting on pews with boards! Around 20 children, accompanied by mums and grandmas, took part in an interactive retelling of the Entry into Jerusalem and the Last Supper, bringing the Easter story to life. This year at St Wilfrid’s Kids Church, the children explored the four key events leading up to and including Easter Sunday in a hands-on and meaningful way. The aim was to give them a physical reminder of the Easter story — something they could build, reflect on, and return to each week. Every Easter, people from across the East Leake Benefice join together for the Good Friday Walk: an all day ramble through the South Notts countryside, visiting each of our village churches to worship, pray and tell the story of the Cross of Christ. This year saw around 100 people joined in for at least part of the day, with around 20 walkers (and 3 dogs!) completing the entire route. House of Prayer is a prayer group from St Christopher’s Sneinton. It gathers every Thursday afternoon in the lounge at Carlton Fold, a housing association for over-50s located across the road from the church. The group prays for specific needs within the church and the wider Sneinton community and provides a time of encouragement, discipleship, and spiritual growth. The Education Team recently welcomed more than 30 Diocesan RE Subject Leaders to Jubilee House in Southwell for the 2026 Religious Education Conference, themed “Celebrating Stories.” The conference provided a valuable opportunity for delegates to network, reflect and collaborate, while celebrating and sharing best practice in Religious Education.
