Branding

Branding

Branding might sound like something for businesses, but it’s about clarity, welcome, and identity

For a parish, good branding is simply a way of helping people recognise who you are, feel at ease, and understand what you’re inviting them into. Think about a brand or company you know and what comes to mind when you think of them – you know their colours, shapes, even fonts. The best brand identities go beyond a logo; they show you what the organisation is about.

Across websites, social media, posters, newsletters, and signage, consistent branding helps ensure your church speaks with one clear, warm, recognisable voice. If you look like you know who you are, it allows other people to be clear about that too. It’s hard for someone to feel like they belong and are at home somewhere if there’s no consistency or reliability about it.

  • It builds trust
When your website, social media, and printed materials look consistent, people feel your church is clear, confident, and reliable.
  • It makes information easy to find
Simple, organised branding helps people quickly spot key details like service times, events, and contact information.
  • It reflects who you are
Good branding shows your church’s story, values, and identity in a way that’s clear for every generation.
Parish Branding: The Simple Essentials
COLOURS

Your parish only needs:

  • 1 main colour
  • 1 accent colour
  • 1 Main text colour
  • 1 supporting colour
  • Black and white

Keep it simple. Use these same colours everywhere.

FONTS

Choose:

  • 1 heading font
  • 1 subheading font
  • (Optional) 1 kids / youth font

Stick to these fonts across all posters, website, newsletters, and social media. Make sure they are readable and go with your branding.

LOGO

A good parish logo is:

  • Simple
  • Clear at small sizes
  • Works on light and dark backgrounds (if necessary, you could have a light and dark variation that has a transparent background)

You will need:

  • One main logo (round or square)
  • One horizontal version
  • One icon-only version (for social media)

Use the same logo every time.
